Quick Musings with Li Han
What are your fondest memories of RGS?
Li Han: My first distinct memory of RGS was Sec 1 orientation. I started school a few days late because of a tennis tournament, and on the first day I was in school, I was ushered into the Hall where the prefects were leading school cheers. The hall erupted into “We will we will ROCK YOU!”, and I was like – “OMG, what’s going on?! Whatever it is, I love it!! This is where I belong”. It felt wonderful.
I also have very fond memories of the organized chaos of house practices, when math finally became fun, and the low voices of NCC girls greeting their seniors!
If you have a super power, what would that be?
Li Han: Gosh, that’s a hard one. There are very enlightened views like Bill and Melinda Gates about what superpower they want but I guess I’m not that intellectual about it.
I wish I had the power to make people be nice and civil to each other. We live in a horrific world; societies implicitly and some explicitly condone the systematic raping and slavery of women, acts of war and violence, corporate greed, poverty and corruption. I’d like some magic dust to sprinkle on people’s heads, especially those of leaders, inject a sense of servant leadership integrity and compassion, and make all the bad things go away.
What exciting topics are you going to share with us over breakfast?
Li Han: I can share about anything folks want to know about – unlikely career paths, where I found the courage to break a bond, working for two seasons at a ski resort, ice-climbing, being a woman entrepreneur, working overseas, moving countries for love, living with a dog and a cat at the same time who love each other, Burning Man, freezing eggs/delaying kids for career…
